Office Issues DMCA Section 104 Report on Impact of the DMCA and Electronic Commerce and Associated Technologies on Sections 109 and 117 of the Copyright Act

The Register of Copyrights presented to Congress on Aug. 29 her report on the effects of title 1 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the development of electronic commerce and associated technology on the operation of sections 109 and 117 of title 17, U.S.C. (the Copyright Act, as amended). It also evaluates the relationship between existing and emerging technology and the operation of those sections. The report, which was required under section 104 of the DMCA, is available on the Copyright Office website. Paper copies will be available for purchase in the future from the Government Printing Office. (read report)
