Copyright Office Requests Comments on 1999, 2000, and 2001 Musical Works Funds Controversy and Notices of Intention to Participate in 1999, 2000, and 2001 Distribution of Musical Works Funds

The Copyright Office of the Library of Congress directs all claimants to royalty fees collected in 1999, 2000, and 2001 for the distribution of digital audio recording devices and media to submit comments as to whether a controversy exists as to the distribution of the royalty fees in the 1999, 2000, and 2001 Musical Works Funds. The Copyright Office also requests that each claimant who intends to participate in the distribution of the 1999, 2000, and 2001 Musical Works Funds file a Notice of Intention to Participate. The notice must identify each year and each subfund in which the copyright owner has an interest. The notices and the comments are due September 16, 2002. (read details)

The July 16 notice in the Federal Register incorrectly asked for Notices of Intention to Participate in the proceeding to distribute the 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998 Musical Works Funds when, in fact, it should have read "... participate in the distribution of the 1999, 2000, and 2001 Musical Works Funds...." A correction will be published in the Federal Register.
