COPYRIGHT OFFICE COMES TO CALIFORNIA MARCH 1 AND 3

The Register of Copyrights and other top officials from the Copyright Office will be coming to California March 1 and 3 to present a Continuing Legal Education Program on current activities of the Copyright Office and other significant developments in copyright law. They will be joined by experts from academia, copyright industries, and private practice. Sponsored by the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of California, the program will take place March 1 in Los Angeles and March 3 in San Francisco. OFFICE PROPOSES RULES GOVERNING SERVICE OF PROCESS, PRODUCTION OF OFFICE DOCUMENTS, AND TESTIMONY OF EMPLOYEES

The Copyright Office is proposing adoption of rules governing service of process on the Copyright Office, the Register of Copyrights, or an employee of the Copyright Office acting in official capacity. The rules would also govern production of Office documents and testimony of Office employees in legal proceedings. Comments must be received by March 24, 2004. For further information, click here.

Mar. 1: Deadline for receipt of claims to the 2003 DART royalties. However, note that the Office encourages claimants who file online to do so by February 29, 2004. Claims filed online must be received on the Office's server by 11:59 p.m. EST on March 1, 2004.
